From one week to another, Milan fashion week took the fashion world by it’s heels. This fashion capital city imprinted some of the best moments of this fashion season…but would we expect anything less from from Italy?
Always making women elegant, sophisticated and sexy, the Italians never fail to disappoint and always share the fashion in their DNA. Here are some of our favorite highlights from this seasons Italian spring summer collections:
Versace: Donatella is a fashion leading goddess, full stop. Her eye this season, was definitely set on the future. Always empowering women through fashion, Donatella took the atelier’s power of glamour and drew this season’s collection from combining sportswear and daily stylish clothing to cater women on the go whilst maintaining luxury and elegant taste. We can all say she has always guided Versace through glamour and this time she took it a step further. The collection featured active wear with nylon parkas, body con leggings, figure tight t-shirts, Teva flat sandals. However, glamour was still present throughout pieces such as asymmetrical green and navy blue dresses, jackets, miniskirts and cropped colorful tops. It was definitely a Versace signature show with a twist.
Albeta Ferretti: The atelier’s collection was quite an edgy and unpredictable one. From tooled leather corsets to cowboy boots slung against waists to ankle grazed skirts and crop tops, Ferretti’s designs had a fresh outlook on modernity.
Gucci: The set screamed 70’s nightclub. From pink velvet banquettes to the mirrors to the white misty smoke, it was clear Alessandro Michele has a clear vision of exactly what he wanted. The show opened with a tweedy jacket and flares with extra large glitter framed 70’s shades. It sounds like big things were poppin down to the gigantic platform footwear. The main aim was to cater necessities of glamorous street stunting. In fact Michele elaborated that it’s a two-in-one as it included a pair of slippers inside. Very cool, if you ask us. The garments were quite spectacular and full of attitude. It included fairy tale chiffon dresses in zig zag sparkles and Hollywood glam fragile dresses. The models wore hats that gave an extra touch of a sense of haute couture to the whole show. It definitely was a rich looking show.
Dolce & Gabbana: A favorite brand of ours that always captures the Italian heritage put on quite a party on the runway. Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce always work so well together as one pools in the true Italian heritage and the other brings the savy sexiness. This season, the show was certainly one of a kind as they took their inspiration from our ever-changing sociability interactions through social media. The collection featured various prints in classic D&G silhouettes and topped off with fun and quirky head pieces from turbans to tiaras to piles of fruit. The brand was trying to escape the traditional runway style and added fun energy to it not only through its designs but also through the rush on the runway. There were even performers on their own stage such as the street dancing performing children that were seen. It was definitely one energetic runway show!
