This season Arab Fashion week took place at the luxurious Maydan Hotel. This non-profit organized event was a five days, taking place from the sixth till the tenth of October. Representing 22 Arab countries as well as showcasing some elite international designers, this was truly a great opportunity to celebrate the success of developing the world’s one and only ‘Ready Couture’ fashion platform as they have labeled it. The Arab Fashion Council is aiming to shape and redirect fashion from locals to internationals towards a different and unique approach rather than the mainstreaming of fast fashion.

This third season of HAFW, two elite Haute Couture designers, Rad Hourani and Yacine Aouadi alongside other talented designers introduced their collections at the show. The first day was simply dedicated to kidswear and opening womenswear designers where the second day introduced menswear collections and the remaining three days showcasing other womenswear designers.

This fashion week was a great platform for emerging and establishing designers to celebrate handwork, savoir-faire and collective fashion through Haute Couture and Ready Couture from all over the world to empower and showcase their brands on a global platform. It has given a great opportunity for designers to interact and mingle with important industry contacts. Aside that we here at TheFashSet had enjoyed a couple great shows ourselves, we have picked out some of our favorite looks off the runway:

Aouadi Paris: This season Aouadi presented a such an organic collection. It featured such naturalistic and stylish silhouettes with influence of the 1920’s. There was such delicate touches such as the flesh-colored silk organza and lace down to the poetic embroideries. Each model walking down the runway was styled from the hair down to the body art to the gold painted finger and toe tips. Each model was indeed very unique and we love every part of it.

Jeans Couture: This was a very fun and bright collection. From the embroidered details on the denim to the flared attached sleeves and half cut long skirts. There were plenty of looks we enjoyed and it seemed like so did the models. The edgy collection definitely had pieces for every women.

Tiiya By Alanood Al Attiya: What a dreamy, feminine collection! Every dress was sculptured or draped in an exquisite manner. Each slow step the models took on the runway too gave the dresses more and more of a dramatic feels as the audience gazed. With construction on point, each gown was catered to couture perfection. We’ve defiantly got our eye on some of these pieces.

Nicholas Chahine: This was Chahine’s first launch at HAFW,was his birthday and was also the closing show on the third day of Arab Fashion Week. Overall, with a great job well done we must say. Quite a playful yet glamorous ladylike collection. From the beautiful sheer print mixtures to the dreamy metallics and bright colors, this collection was simply filled with beautiful designs that every women would want. Bravo and congrats on your debut Chahine.

We’ve put together a small gallery showcasing our favorite looks from the shows, as well as apparel and accessory designers seen at the exhibition as well as the stunning venue. We are definitely hoping to

see much more from the upcoming season!
