The Harper’s Bazaar World of Fashion event launched full speed into its third season this year! It took place from October 3rd -14th (a full 12 days) at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai and showcased the latest autumn and winter trends. Upon entering the mall, you could just feel the fashionista energy and everyone was naturally flocking to the center stage where all the action was taking place. Even if the “local shoppers” weren’t aware of the event, they wanted to see what all the commotion was.
Throughout the 12-day period, over 20 catwalks shows were featured. I was able to catch a couple of them, being DKNY, bebe and Katakeet, which is a luxurious, upscale children’s boutique. DKNY showed a feminine collection of pencil skirts, cigarette pants, bold color-blocking, and opting to base their collection around the hues of black, grey and some pops of royal blue, coral orange and fuchsia pink. Bebe showcased a very edgy, seductive line with leopard print being it’s top trend of the season. They also featured many jumpsuits, cropped pants and a few evening gowns. Katakeet, the children’s boutique, was such a joy to watch! The little fashionistas strutting down the runway looking ever so posh was just too cute!!! They featured both boys and girls clothing and designs by different labels within the boutique were shown.
Some fashion “elites” graced the event as well, like Arabic pop and beauty sensation Nancy Arjam and fashion blogger, Tala Samman. A highlight for shoe lovers was being able to see the legendary designer Gianvito Rossi. As a finale to the event, students from ESMOD, the prestigious French fashion institute in Dubai, showcased their designs on the runway.
The event attracted fashionistas, beauty queens and shopaholics far and wide. It was a great event and I can’t wait to see what Harper’s Bazaar has in store for us next year! ; )
